How many times have you said "if only I knew then what I know now!". There's so much you wish you had done differently and wish you could change.
The fact is, you know now what you know now and the rest of your life is still to come. That's what you should be focusing on. Don't dwell on what was or what might have been; focus on your future. Change all those mindless and out-of-date patterns. Lay down new patterns. Try new things. Do things differently. Prepare! Build! Create!
And see what happens.
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.
I like the encouraging tone of this post. And, your very last sentence is a good reminder!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat i have to add is from a slightly different perspective: It is the idea that we each are all that we have ever been (who 1st came up with that anyway?) So, just saying we have a lot of inner resources from our own personal history---they are there to be accessed---don't forget!
Yes, good point. Each of us carries with us an emotional, cognitive, behavioural and spiritual library to which which we can refer in a constructive way.
ReplyDeleteCommenting again on this post, having re-read it: Regrets can haunt us. It is, of course, the right thing and can also be a fruitful thing, to take responsibility for mistakes, but to keep mentally returning to it (or them) is a good way to erode your state of mind. Try to stop it if you find yourself doing that; I do.
